 Judicial nominating commission-senate confirmation.

1 AN   ACT     relating    to   the     judicial       nominating   commission;
2 requiring senate confirmation for appointed voting members
3 of     the     judicial        nominating        commission;      specifying
4 applicability; and providing for an effective date.

6 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming:

8Section 1.       W.S. 5-1-102(a) is amended to read:
9
105-1-102.      Terms     of    judicial        nominating   commission
11 members; expenses; removal.

13(a)    The    terms    of    the    elected    and   appointed   voting
14 members of the judicial nominating commission created by
15 Article 5, Section 4, Wyoming Constitution, shall be four

1 (4) years except the initial term for one (1) attorney and
2 one (1) elector shall be two (2) years and the initial term
3 for one (1) attorney and one (1) elector shall be three (3)
4 years.     The   members    of   the     Wyoming   state    bar   initially
5 elected to the commission shall draw lots to determine the
6 term each shall serve. The governor shall designate whether
7 the length of the term of electors he initially appoints to
8 the commission shall be two (2), three (3) or four (4)
9 years. Appointments made by the governor of voting members
10 to   the   commission      shall    require   senate    confirmation     in
11 accordance       with    W.S.    28-12-101    through      28-12-103.   The
12 governor may remove any member he appoints as provided in
13 W.S. 9-1-202.

15Section     2.    This      act    shall    apply     to    judicial
16 nominating commission members whose terms commence on or
17 after July 1, 2026.

19Section 3.       This act is effective July 1, 2026.
