Senate GOP leaders circulated a tentative calendar for tomorrow that includes legislation that would allow online gaming in Wisconsin, as well as an NIL bill co-authored by Majority Leader Devin LeMahieu.
Both bills have split the Senate GOP caucus, and Sen. Chris Kapenga, D-Delafield, threatened on “UpFront” that LeMahieu, R-Oostburg, could lose his leadership position if the bills get floor votes on the last day of the regular session tomorrow.
Senate Org was voting on the tentative calendar today with paper ballots due at 3 p.m.
The online gaming bill, AB 601, would allow such bets to be made so long as the servers were on tribal lands. Meanwhile, AB 1034 would provide $14.6 million annually to UW-Madison to cover the costs of athletic facilities, freeing up money to fund name, image and likeness deals with athletes. The bill also would provide $200,000 a year each to the Green Bay and Milwaukee campuses.
The tentative calendar also includes a package to address PFAS that cleared the Assembly unanimously. It includes more than $132 million in funding to help address the “forever chemicals.”
