17 years ago this month, VTDigger began with a big idea: Vermont deserved a fiercely independent news organization dedicated to serving the public.

Today, more than 500,000 readers turn to VTDigger each month. And this September, as we celebrate our 17th birthday, we’re asking you to help power what comes next.

Since joining VTDigger this summer, I’ve been struck by how many readers tell me they rely on our reporting to understand what’s happening across Vermont.
