Below are details on upcoming public meetings in Greater Richmond, Albemarle County and the City of Charlottesville.

Richmond City

City Council 4 p.m. Tuesday Council chambers, 2nd floor Richmond City Hall 301 N. 9th St.

Council has scheduled a special meeting to introduce and vote on a proposal to have Richmond intervene in the Dominion–NextEra merger, joining Arlington County as a participant locality .

Organizational Development Committee 4 p.m. Tuesday Council chambers, 2nd floor Richmond City Hall 301 N. 9th St.

The committee will review the ordinance to establish the Affordable Dwelling Unit Advisory Committee and a resolution to adopt the city’s emergency operations plan.

The committee is expected to get a presentation on the city’s latest draft of its zoning code overhaul , a project known as Code Refresh .

The panel is also slated to get an update on Richmond 300 , the city’s master plan with policy recommendations that guide development.

School Board Work Session 6 p.m. Tuesday School Board chambers, 17th floor Richmond City Hall 301 N. 9th St.

The board is expected to receive several updates including on the district’s clear backpack policy and 1% sales tax referendum. In addition, the board will also discuss the kick off of the districts’ facility modernization plan.

School Board Business Session 6 p.m. Wednesday School Board chambers, 17th floor Richmond City Hall 301 N. 9th St.

Urban Design Committee 10 a.m. Thursday Council chambers, 2nd floor Richmond City Hall 301 N. 9th St.

Committee members are set to review plans for a new outdoor seating space at Hot For Pizza at 1301 W. Leigh Lt. and a conceptual master plan for Little John Park at 1401 Little John Road.

Education and Human Services Committee 2 p.m. Thursday Council chambers, 2nd floor Richmond City Hall 301 N. 9th St.

Superintendent Jason Kamras is expected to provide an update on Richmond Public Schools.

An ordinance to amend the Special Fund Budget by creating a new special fund for the Department of Justice Services is on the agenda. This change would increase the department’s funding by $137,038.00 for the purpose of funding a juvenile detention center program.

All committee votes are recommendations for City Council, which has final authority on ordinances.

Charlottesville City

City Council 4 p.m. Tuesday Council Chamber 605 E. Main St.

The council expects to hear an Annual Affordable Housing report as well as an update from the Office of Economic Development on the Cville Talent Network.

Councilors expect to have a public hearing and vote on the Program Year 2025-26 Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation report (CAPER). They’ll also plan a public hearing for a proposed CDBG-funded project, the 2026 BEACON Kitchen Accessibility Enhancements project. Councilors are slated to hold a public hearing for more proposed CDBG-funded work, like the 2026 IX Arts Foundation Accessibility Enhancements Planning Grant.

Councilors are planning to vote on an ordinance amending city code regarding the Police Civilian Oversight Board. They’re also slated to vote on a resolution authorizing a two-year lease agreement for Carver Recreation Center.

City Council–CRHA Board Joint Work Session 4 p.m. Wednesday CitySpace 100 5th St. NE

Members plan to discuss an update on Charlottesville Redevelopment & Housing Authority projects and existing collaborative projects between the city and CRHA.

Planning Commission 5:30 p.m. Wednesday City Council Chambers 610 E. Main St.

The commission is planning a public hearing on a comprehensive plan amendment for Chapter 9: community facilities and services and appendix.

The commission is also slated to vote on planning commission bylaws amendments on public hearing times

Police Civilian Oversight Board 6:30 p.m. Thursday CitySpace 100 5th St. NE

Historic Resources Committee 10 a.m. Friday 610 E. Market St. NDS Conference Room

The committee is scheduled to discuss the marker at Court Square, memorialization policy, Vinegar Hill commemoration history, neighborhood walking tours and the Liberty Bell replica.

Albemarle County

School Board 5:30 p.m. Thursday Albemarle County Office Building 401 McIntire Road Charlottesville

Henrico County

Board of Supervisors 6 p.m. Tuesday Board room, Henrico County Western Government Center 4301 E. Parham Road

Henrico’s supervisors will hold several public hearings including an ordinance that allows the use of photo speed monitoring devices in school crossing zones.

The ordinance proposes violators receive a civil penalty of $100 if a photo speed monitoring device finds a vehicle traveling at least 10 miles per hour above the posted speed limit.

The board will also vote on an ordinance to update the maximum discharge limits in alignment with state permitting requirements, establish requirements for PFAS or “forever chemicals,” discharge monitoring and conform reporting requirements to federal regulations.

Hanover County

School Board 7 p.m. Tuesday Board room, Hanover Administration Building 7516 County Complex Road

The school board is set to receive several reports and review several policy revisions including updates to the board’s language and terminology regarding public comment period.

The board will also discuss a proposed update to the school system’s transportation policy that adds the option for the board to allow third parties to use school buses for public purposes, in accordance with Virginia Code.

New courses proposed for the 2027–28 school year will also be reviewed. Those courses include business and personal finance, diesel equipment technology and entrepreneurship, as well as welding.

Board of Supervisors 2 p.m. & 6 p.m. Wednesday County Board Room, Hanover Administration Building 7516 County Complex Road

Hanover supervisors will begin its meeting with a ribbon cutting for the completion of the newly renovated Voter Registration Office at the Wickham Building at 1 p.m, followed by a presentation from General Registrar David Nichols.

The board will reconvene at 6 p.m. to vote on proposed bill adjustments in response to the United States Mint ended production of new pennies. Individuals and businesses using cash in financial transactions have had to adopt policies and strategies for dealing with the increasing scarcity of these coins.

County Treasurer Timothy Boschen has requested that the board consider adopting temporary procedures that would round bills and account balances for taxes and other charges to the nearest nickel for cash transactions only.

Chesterfield County

School Board 6:30 p.m. Tuesday Public Meeting Room 10001 Iron Bridge Road

The board is expected to review available funding for school improvement and get an update on the district’s pre-kindergarten classes .
