SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) – Illinois Legislative Inspector General Mike McCuskey will leave his job later this month following backlash over his handling of the Rep. Harry Benton investigation.
The Legislative Ethics Commission announced the vacancy on Tuesday, with the application deadline set for Oct. 31.
This comes after Benton resigned in July after an ethics investigation into acts of sexual harassment.
According to a report from the LIG’s office, Benton was found to have violated state law by engaging in the acts, and the investigation supported two allegations of sexual harassment.
According to WAND’s news partners at WTAX, McCuskey was accused of behaving unprofessionally and being unwilling to help the women complaining of sexual harassment.
WTAX added that McCuskey faces accusations of breaching confidentiality with accusers and inaccurate reporting.
