U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville is telling Alabama voters what a Democrat’s bumper ought to say.
“If Democrats slapped a slogan on their bumpers, it’d be this one,” Tuberville (R-Auburn) said, showing a sticker that reads, “MORE TAXES LESS RESULTS.”
“My bumper looks a little different,” he says in the 30-second TV spot.
Less taxes, more results.

“As your senator, I helped pass the largest working-class tax cuts in history and delivered Alabama’s biggest tax refund ever.”
Tuberville and GOP lawmakers in Washington pushed the One Big Beautiful Bill through without a single Democratic vote, and Trump signed it on the Fourth of July last year. It made the 2017 Trump tax cuts permanent, bumped the child tax credit to $2,200 and added write-offs for tips, overtime, seniors and car loan interest.
The bigger refunds showed up this spring: U.S. Treasury Department reports the average came in above $3,400, up 11% from last year.

Tuberville also promised to do away with something that state lawmakers have wrestled with in recent sessions: the state sales tax on groceries.
“As your governor, I’ll cut taxes even further, starting with elimination of the state’s grocery tax, then I’ll audit every state dollar, ensuring your tax dollars deliver real results.”
Until 2023, Alabama was one of only three states taxing food at the full 4% rate. The Legislature cut it to 3% that year and tied a second cut to 3.5% growth in the Education Trust Fund, then bypassed that guardrail in 2025 and took the rate to 2%.
This spring, lawmakers suspended the last 2% for May and June under a bill carried by State Rep. James Lomax (R-Huntsville) and Sen. Arthur Orr (R-Decatur), a two-month break priced at roughly $46 million.
But the state sales tax on groceries remains, and Tuberville pledged in his new ad to do away with it.
“Less taxes, more results,” Tuberville said. “That’s my slogan.”
Tuberville faces Democrat and former U.S. Senator Doug Jones (D-Mountain Brook) in the November general election – now 56 days away.
