A RESOLUTION
Recognizing the month of October 2026 as "Arts and Culture
Month" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Art and culture embody much of the accumulated
wisdom, intellect and imagination of humankind; and
WHEREAS, Art and culture enhance and enrich the lives of
every Pennsylvanian and make the United States a more prosperous
nation; and
WHEREAS, Cities and states, through their local and state
agencies representing thousands of cultural organizations, have
recognized and celebrated the value and importance of art and
culture in the lives of Americans; and
WHEREAS, The arts can evoke emotions and foster connections
with others, providing comfort, inspiration and a sense of
belonging across cultures and communities; and
WHEREAS, Diverse art forms broaden perspectives and cultivate
empathy by helping us understand different viewpoints and
experiences, fostering a deeper understanding of the
complexities of our changing world; and
WHEREAS, The arts and culture industry strengthens our
economy by generating $1.2 trillion in total economic activity
annually, representing 4.2% of the nation's Gross Domestic
Product and by supporting the full-time equivalent of 5.4
million jobs; and
WHEREAS, Art and culture have been celebrated throughout the
month of October in the United States for decades; therefore be
it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the
month of October 2026 as "Arts and Culture Month" in
Pennsylvania; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives reaffirm its
support for art and culture and observe this month with
appropriate programs, ceremonies and celebrations; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives call upon the
residents of this Commonwealth to celebrate and honor the
artists and scholars who lift us up, speak to our souls and
shape our communities across this Commonwealth and the nation.
