WILLIAMS, NEILSON, HOHENSTEIN,ISAACSON, MENTZER, CIRESI AND CURRY, AUGUST 24, 2026REFERRED TO COMMITTEE ON TOURISM, RECREATION AND ECONOMICDEVELOPMENT, AUGUST 25, 2026A RESOLUTION1 Recognizing the month of October 2026 as "Arts and Culture2 Month" in Pennsylvania.3 WHEREAS, Art and culture embody much of the accumulated4 wisdom, intellect and imagination of humankind; and5 WHEREAS, Art and culture enhance and enrich the lives of6 every Pennsylvanian and make the United States a more prosperous7 nation; and8 WHEREAS, Cities and states, through their local and state9 agencies representing thousands of cultural organizations, have10 recognized and celebrated the value and importance of art and11 culture in the lives of Americans; and12 WHEREAS, The arts can evoke emotions and foster connections13 with others, providing comfort, inspiration and a sense of14 belonging across cultures and communities; and15 WHEREAS, Diverse art forms broaden perspectives and cultivate16 empathy by helping us understand different viewpoints and1 experiences, fostering a deeper understanding of the2 complexities of our changing world; and3 WHEREAS, The arts and culture industry strengthens our4 economy by generating $1.2 trillion in total economic activity5 annually, representing 4.2% of the nation's Gross Domestic6 Product and by supporting the full-time equivalent of 5.47 million jobs; and8 WHEREAS, Art and culture have been celebrated throughout the9 month of October in the United States for decades; therefore be10 it11 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the12 month of October 2026 as "Arts and Culture Month" in13 Pennsylvania; and be it further14 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives reaffirm its15 support for art and culture and observe this month with16 appropriate programs, ceremonies and celebrations; and be it17 further18 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives call upon the19 residents of this Commonwealth to celebrate and honor the20 artists and scholars who lift us up, speak to our souls and21 shape our communities across this Commonwealth and the nation.20260HR0598PN3837 - 2 -
