1		HOUSE RESOLUTION
2		    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3		Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Brother
4		Patrick Michael Martin, C.F.C., who passed away on June 21,
5		2026; and
6		    WHEREAS, Brother Martin was born in Chicago on August 17,
7		1954; he was raised in St. Adrian's Parish and graduated from
8		Leo High School; and
9		    WHEREAS, Brother Martin, an Edmund Rice Christian for 51
10		years, dedicated his life to Catholic education, serving
11		students in California, Washington, Arizona, Michigan, New
12		York, and across the Chicago area at Leo High School from 1977
13		to 1979, St. Laurence High School from 1983 to 1987, and
14		Brother Rice High School from 1994 to 2009; and
15		    WHEREAS, Brother Martin, while teaching at Brother Rice
16		High School, served as a math and religion teacher, director
17		of the APEX program, and one of the founders of the Edmund Rice
18		Camp at Rice; he gave the Catholic institution 15 years of his
19		life while making a lasting impact on every student he taught
20		and every program he helped build; and
21		    WHEREAS, Brother Martin will be remembered for his life,

1		his faith, and his service; and
2		    WHEREAS, Brother Martin was preceded in death by his
3		parents, Peter and Dolores, and his sister, Lorraine; and
4		    WHEREAS, Brother Martin is survived by his siblings, Peter
5		and Therese, and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
6		    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
7		HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
8		we mourn the passing of Brother Patrick Michael Martin, C.F.C.
9		and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and
10		all who knew and loved him; and be it further
11		    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12		presented to the family of Brother Martin as an expression of
13		our deepest sympathy.
