                          A RESOLUTION
1 Designating June 15, 2026, as "Pediatric Brain Cancer Awareness
2    Day" in Pennsylvania.
3    WHEREAS, Pediatric brain cancer is the leading cause of
4 cancer-related death among children in the United States,
5 claiming the lives of thousands of young patients each year; and
6    WHEREAS, Brain tumors are the most common solid tumor
7 diagnosed in children, accounting for approximately 20% of all
8 cancers in patients under 15 years of age; and
9    WHEREAS, Despite decades of research, the five-year survival
10 rate for many forms of pediatric brain cancer remains low, and
11 treatment options for children are often limited compared to
12 those available to adult patients; and
13    WHEREAS, Children diagnosed with brain cancer and their
14 families face intense physical, emotional and financial burdens
15 throughout the course of treatment and beyond; and
16    WHEREAS, Increased public awareness is essential to driving
17 greater development in pediatric brain cancer research,
1 improving access to clinical trials and accelerating effective
2 treatments; and
3    WHEREAS, This Commonwealth is home to world-class medical
4 institutions and researchers who are at the forefront of the
5 fight against pediatric brain cancer; therefore be it
6    RESOLVED, That the Senate designate June 15, 2026, as
7 "Pediatric Brain Cancer Awareness Day" in Pennsylvania; and be
8 it further
9    RESOLVED, That the Senate call upon all Pennsylvanians to
10 observe this day by raising awareness of pediatric brain cancer,
11 supporting affected families and advocating for increased
12 funding for research and treatment.
