2  PROCLAIMING FEBRUARY 6, 2026 AS "NEW MEXICO SPEECH-LANGUAGE
3  AND HEARING ASSOCIATION DAY" IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.

5WHEREAS, one in ten New Mexico families is affected by a
6  hearing, speech or language impairment disorder that, if
7  untreated, can present significant obstacles to academic
8  achievement, social adjustment and career advancement; and
9WHEREAS, audiology and speech-language pathology
10 services help empower individuals with communication
11 disorders to lead independent, productive and fulfilling
12 lives; and
13      WHEREAS, audiologists and speech-language pathologists
14 work to eliminate or minimize the isolating effects of
15 communication disorders on affected families; and
16      WHEREAS, audiologists and speech-language pathologists
17 offer quality education and health care services to the
18 people of New Mexico; and
19      WHEREAS, the New Mexico speech-language and hearing
20 association is a statewide professional body of speech-
21 language pathologists and audiologists with a mission to
22 provide the highest quality of support services;
23      NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF
24 REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that Friday,
25 February 6, 2026, be declared "New Mexico Speech-Language and   HM 11

1  Hearing Association Day" in the house of representatives and
2  that recognition be extended to the professional audiologists
3  and speech-language pathologists in the state for their
4  valuable service; and
5BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this memorial be
6  transmitted to the New Mexico speech-language and hearing
