sjr4/enrolled.txtSJR4 ENROLLED1 SJR42 W1B8UEE-23 By Senators Gudger, Albritton, Allen, Barfoot, Beasley, Bell,4 Butler, Carnley, Chambliss, Chesteen, Coleman,5 Coleman-Madison, Elliott, Figures, Givhan, Hatcher, Hovey,6 Jones, Kelley, Kitchens, Livingston, Melson, Orr, Price,7 Roberts, Sessions, Shelnutt, Singleton, Smitherman, Stewart,8 Stutts, Waggoner, Weaver, Williams, Woods9 RFD: Rules10 First Read: 13-Jan-26Page 0SJR4 Enrolled1 Enrolled, An Act,234 SJR___ CELEBRATING THE LIFE AND MOURNING THE DEATH OF5 DOROTHY LEE HATCHER.67WHEREAS, with an overwhelming sense of loss, we mourn8 the death, yet celebrate the life, of Dorothy Lee "Dot"9 Hatcher of Montgomery, Alabama, whose passing on December10 23, 2025, at 83 years of age, has left a void in the lives11 of her family and friends; and12WHEREAS, a devoted mother, friend, seamstress, and13 community leader, Ms. Hatcher was known for her unfailing14 work ethic, loving spirit, and consistent active desire to15 serve others; she was the beloved mother of our good friend16 and colleague, Senator Kirk Hatcher; and17WHEREAS, Dot Hatcher was born on November 4, 1942, in18 Montgomery, Alabama, to Rochelle Nichols, Sr. and Lilly19 Hatcher; upon the early death of her mother, she received a20 lifetime of devoted care from her aunt, Nellie Hatcher Lee,21 and her husband, John Arthur Lee, both of whom she was22 blessed to call her beloved parents; and23WHEREAS, she matriculated through the Montgomery24 Public School system before pursuing studies in tailoring25 and commercial sewing; this training led to a career26 spanning more than six decades as a master tailor and27 seamstress; and28WHEREAS, one of her greatest achievements wasPage 1SJR4 Enrolled29 fulfilling her dream of owning and operating her own tailor30 and dress shop; Custom Creations was her pride and joy, and31 all who visited her shop found not only expert apparel32 fitting, but also love and kindness; her remarkable talent33 and dedication earned her wide recognition as one of the34 city's most gifted seamstresses; and35WHEREAS, at the tender age of eight, she united with36 Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church and was baptized under the37 pastorate of the late Reverend George W. Temple; blessed38 with a beautiful alto voice, she was often heard singing39 lead vocals in both the PRBC Senior Choir and the Gospel40 Chorus; of the many songs she led in Senior Choir, "You41 Brought Me from a Mighty Long Way" was the most requested;42 and43WHEREAS, she leaves to faithfully cherish her44 memories her lovingly devoted son, Lycurgus "Kirk" Hatcher;45 daughter, Katrina Cleveland (Adam); sisters, Yolanda E. Lee,46 Diane Jones, Annie P.
