sb5344/introduced-in-senate.txt119 S5344 IS: To require the Secretary of the Army to submit a report on efforts to support the production, testing, and sustainment of autonomous maneuver systems, components for such systems, and low-cost interceptors.U.S. Senate2026-08-06text/xmlENPursuant to Title 17 Section 105 of the United States Code, this file is not subject to copyright protection and is in the public domain.II 119th CONGRESS 2d Session S. 5344 IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES August 6, 2026 Ms. Slotkin introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the Committee on Armed Services A BILLTo require the Secretary of the Army to submit a report onefforts to support the production, testing, and sustainment ofautonomous maneuver systems, components for such systems, and low-costinterceptors.1.Report on production capacity for autonomous maneuver systems(a)In generalNot later than April 15, 2027, the Secretary of the Army shall submit to the Committees on Armed Services of the Senate and the House of Representatives a report on ongoing efforts to support the production, testing, and sustainment of autonomous maneuver systems, components for such systems, and low-cost interceptors.(b)ElementsThe report required by subsection (a) shall include the following:(1)An overview of efforts to accelerate production and fielding of next-generation autonomous systems and low-cost interceptor capabilities.(2)A description of activities to strengthen and expand domestic supply chains for critical drone and counter-drone components, including motors, batteries, sensors, and related technologies.(3)A description of how the Army is enabling rapid scaling of drone production and low-cost interceptor systems through advanced manufacturing.(4)An assessment of how advanced manufacturing techniques may support increased production capacity and surge requirements.(5)An overview of how testing, requirements development, and evaluation activities are coordinated across the Department of Defense, including through designated test ranges and relevant Army organizations involved in autonomous systems development, production, and sustainment, including next-generation maneuver systems technologies led by the Ground Vehicle Systems Center and sustainment operations at the Tank-automotive and Armaments Command.(6)A discussion of potential applications of advanced manufacturing technologies to support repair, maintenance, and sustainment activities for autonomous systems and low-cost interceptors.
