s5101/introduced-in-senate.txt119 S5101 IS: Glenwood Hot Springs Protection ActU.S. Senate2026-07-23text/xmlENPursuant to Title 17 Section 105 of the United States Code, this file is not subject to copyright protection and is in the public domain.II 119th CONGRESS 2d Session S. 5101 IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES July 23, 2026 Mr. Bennet (for himself and Mr. Hickenlooper ) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources A BILLTo prohibit the Secretary of the Interior from taking any action to expand the Mid-Continent Limestone Quarry located near Glenwood Springs, Colorado.1.Short titleThis Act may be cited as the Glenwood Hot Springs Protection Act .2.Prohibition on Expansion of the Mid-Continent Limestone Quarry(a)ProhibitionThe Secretary of the Interior shall not process or approve any application for the expansion of existing mineral operations located on any mining or mill site claim located under the general mining laws, or for any mineral material sales contract or application under the Act of July 31, 1947 (commonly known as the Materials Act of 1947 ) (61 Stat. 681, chapter 406; 30 U.S.C. 601 et seq. ), or the Act of July 23, 1955 (commonly known as the Surface Resources Act of 1955 ) (69 Stat. 367, chapter 375; 30 U.S.C. 611 et seq. ), for limestone on land managed by the Bureau of Land Management that is located in whole or in part within the land described in subsection (b).(b)Land describedThe land referred to in subsection (a) includes the following land located in Garfield County, Colorado:(1)Sec. 4, T. 6 S., R. 89 W., sixth principal meridian.(2)Secs. 25 and 36, T. 5 S., R. 89 W., sixth principal meridian.(3)Secs. 30 and 31, T. 5 S., R. 88 W., sixth principal meridian.
