A RESOLUTION
Designating the week of August 19 through 30, 2026, as "Little
League World Series Week" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Pennsylvania's proud tradition of youth sports
shines brightly each summer during the Little League Baseball®
World Series, held annually in South Williamsport, Lycoming
County; and
WHEREAS, Founded in Pennsylvania in 1939 BY CARL E. STOTZ, <--
Little League has grown into the world's largest organized youth
sports program, having a positive impact on millions of children
and families; and
WHEREAS, The Little League program represents an organization
that is strong in vision, values and purpose; and
WHEREAS, For more than seven decades, the Little League World
Series has brought together young athletes to compete in the
spirit of teamwork, perseverance and sportsmanship; and
WHEREAS, Over the course of the baseball postseason months,
Little Leagues across the globe select All Star baseball teams
and compete in local and regional tournaments, with the goal to
earn a spot in the Little League World Series; and
WHEREAS, The Little League World Series highlights the
dedicated athletes, but has one of the strongest networks of
dedicated volunteers who serve as coaches, umpires, mentors and
supporters, who selflessly give their time and energy to help
young people thrive both on and off the field; and
WHEREAS, The Little League World Series not only celebrates
athletic excellence but also emphasizes character development,
leadership and lifelong friendships; and
WHEREAS, Each year, the Little League World Series draws tens
of thousands of visitors to Pennsylvania, boosting the local
economy and fostering a sense of community and pride; and
WHEREAS, The Little League World Series serves as a shining
example of the power of youth sports to bring people together
across cultures and continents; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the
week of August 19 through 30, 2026, as "Little League World
Series Week" in Pennsylvania; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives celebrate this
iconic event and the values it promotes; and be it further
RESOLVED, That all Pennsylvanians be encouraged to observe
"Little League World Series Week" by attending games,
recognizing the contributions of local volunteers and supporting
youth sports in their communities.
