Wieder) --read once and referred to the Committee on Real Property TaxationAN ACT authorizing the Cong Kehal Square of Roman to receive retroactivereal property tax exempt statusTHE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:Section 1. Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary,the assessor of the county of Rockland is hereby authorized to acceptfrom Cong Kehal Square of Roman, an application for exemption from realproperty taxes pursuant to section 430 of the real property tax law withrespect to the 2024 assessment roll, and all of 2023-2024 school taxesfor the parcel conveyed to such organization, with such parcel beinglocated at 12 Roman Blvd., in the hamlet of Monsey, town of Ramapo,otherwise known as Rockland county tax map section 89, block 56.08-5,lot 47. If accepted, the application shall be reviewed as if it hadbeen received on or before the taxable status dates established for suchrolls.If satisfied that such organization would otherwise be entitled tosuch exemption if such organization had acquired the subject propertyand filed an application for exemption by the appropriate taxable statusdate, the assessor, upon approval by the Rockland county legislature,may grant exemption from all taxation and make appropriate correctionsto the subject rolls. If such exemption is granted and such organiza-tion therefore shall have paid any tax with respect to the subjectrolls, the governing body or tax department may, in its sole discretion,provide for the refund of those taxes paid and cancel any taxes, fines,penalties, interest or tax liens remaining unpaid.§ 2.
