II 119th CONGRESS 2d Session S. 4658 IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES June 2, 2026 Mr. Banks (for himself and Mr. Kim ) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs A BILL
To amend title 5, United States Code, to include Parkinson’s disease in the list of illnesses and diseases deemed to be proximately caused by employment in fire protection activities, and for other purposes.
1.
Short title
This Act may be cited as the Parkinson’s Protection for Firefighters Act .
2.
Inclusion of Parkinson’s disease in list of illnesses and diseases deemed to be proximately caused by employment in fire protection activities
Section 8143b(b) of title 5, United States Code, is amended—
(1)
in the subsection heading, by striking
diseased and inserting
diseases ;
(2)
in paragraph (1), by striking activedate and inserting active date ; and
(3)
in paragraph (2)—
(A)
by redesignating subparagraphs (L) through (P) as subparagraphs (M) through (Q), respectively; and
(B)
by inserting after subparagraph (K) the following:
(L)
Parkinson’s disease.
