and11 WHEREAS, The Medicaid program exists to provide critical12healthcare services to eligible low-income individuals,13seniors, people with disabilities, and vulnerable families,14and any fraudulent misuse of Medicaid resources directly harms15those who rely upon these essential services; and16 WHEREAS, Improper payments and fraudulent activity within17Medicaid have cost taxpayers billions of dollars nationally,18demonstrating the need for strong oversight, robust19enforcement mechanisms, and aggressive antifraud initiatives20at every level of government; and21 WHEREAS, President Donald Trump and Vice President JDSR0804 - 2 - LRB104 21906 RMO 37795 r1Vance have taken decisive action to strengthen oversight,2restore accountability, and aggressively pursue fraud and3abuse within federal benefit programs, including renewed4efforts to identify and eliminate Medicaid fraud; and5 WHEREAS, These actions represent an important step toward6restoring integrity in government spending and ensuring that7taxpayer-funded assistance programs serve their intended8purpose; and9 WHEREAS, The previous administration under President Joe10Biden weakened antifraud enforcement by rolling back key11accountability measures, reducing the effectiveness of12oversight tools, and diminishing federal efforts designed to13detect and prevent fraud in government benefit programs; and14 WHEREAS, The State of Illinois has a responsibility to15fully cooperate with federal antifraud initiatives and to16ensure the strongest possible oversight of Medicaid17expenditures and all taxpayer-funded programs; therefore, be18it19 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL20ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we express our strong21support for ongoing federal efforts to eliminate fraud, waste,22abuse, and corruption in government spending, includingSR0804 - 3 - LRB104 21906 RMO 37795 r1targeted efforts to identify and eliminate fraud within the2Medicaid program; and be it further3 RESOLVED, That we commend President Donald Trump and Vice4President JD Vance for their leadership and commitment to5restoring transparency, accountability, and fiscal discipline6in the administration of public benefit programs; and be it7further8 RESOLVED, That we call upon Governor JB Pritzker, all9relevant state agencies, and the State of Illinois to fully10comply with all federal antifraud reviews, audits, and11enforcement initiatives related to Medicaid and other12taxpayer-funded programs;
