 II  119th CONGRESS  2d Session  S. 4520  IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES   May 13, 2026   Mr. Cornyn  (for himself and  Mr. Fetterman ) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the  Committee on Energy and Natural Resources    A BILL
To amend the Natural Gas Act to include a definition of the term  public interest , and for other purposes.
1.
Short title
This Act may be cited as the   LNG Export Security Act  .
2.
Definition of the term  public interest  under the Natural Gas Act
Section 2 of the Natural Gas Act ( 15 U.S.C. 717a ) is amended by adding at the end the following:
(12)
 Public interest  means the consideration of—
(A)
the development of—
(i)
natural gas facilities in the United States; and
(ii)
the domestic natural gas supply;
(B)
domestic economic interests; and
(C)
national security interests.
