FEASIBILITY STUDY; MOBILE LUNG CANCER SCREENING1.7PROGRAM IN GREATER MINNESOTA.1.8(a) The commissioner of health must study the feasibility of establishing a mobile lung1.9cancer screening program for residents of greater Minnesota in which a mobile unit1.10containing a computed tomography scanner and staffed with appropriate health professionals1.11and other personnel travels to various locations in greater Minnesota and screens residents1.12for lung cancer. In this study, the commissioner must:1.13(1) estimate costs for equipment and supplies needed to implement the program, including1.14the cost of purchasing or renting one or more mobile units with a computed tomography1.15scanner and the cost of other equipment and supplies;1.16(2) estimate the numbers and types of health professionals and other personnel needed1.17to staff each mobile unit and staffing costs;1.18(3) identify services to be provided by each mobile unit, including screening residents1.19for lung cancer and providing referrals when appropriate;1.20(4) identify particular regions of greater Minnesota with barriers to lung cancer screening,1.21evaluate how a mobile lung cancer screening program may increase access to screening inSection 1. 105/01/26 REVISOR SGS/CG 26-085602.1 these regions, and estimate the number of residents who could be screened annually by a2.2 mobile unit; and2.3 (5) identify and examine other elements of a program as determined by the commissioner.2.4 (b) By February 1, 2027, the commissioner must submit a report on the study conducted2.5 under paragraph (a) to the chairs and ranking minority members, and the cochairs, of the2.6 legislative committees with jurisdiction over health policy and finance.2.7 Sec. 2. APPROPRIATION.2.8 $....... in fiscal year 2027 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner of2.9 health to conduct a feasibility study of establishing a mobile lung cancer screening program2.10 in greater Minnesota.
