1		HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION
2		    WHEREAS, It is highly fitting that the Illinois General
3		Assembly pays honor and respect to those individuals who have
4		given their lives in service to their country; and
5		    WHEREAS, Lance Corporal Jonathan Kyle Price of Woodlawn
6		was killed in action on January 13, 2006 in Ramadi, Iraq as a
7		result of enemy small arms fire while standing on guard duty;
8		and
9		    WHEREAS, Lance Corporal Price honorably enlisted in the
10		United States Marine Corps shortly after graduating from high
11		school, answering the call to serve and defend the freedoms
12		enjoyed by all Americans; and
13		    WHEREAS, Prior to his military service, Lance Corporal
14		Price was an active member of the Boy Scouts of America and
15		achieved the distinguished rank of Eagle Scout, reflecting his
16		leadership, dedication, and commitment to service; and
17		    WHEREAS, Lance Corporal Price was dedicated to his faith
18		which guided his life and actions; and
19		    WHEREAS, Lance Corporal Price made the ultimate sacrifice
20		in defense of his nation at just 19 years of age, demonstrating

1		extraordinary courage, honor, and selflessness; and
2		    WHEREAS, Lance Corporal Price was eagerly anticipating his
3		return home, where he was to be married to his fiancee, Brea,
4		and welcome the birth of their first child, Madi; and
5		    WHEREAS, The loss of Lance Corporal Price is deeply felt
6		by his family, friends, the entire community of Woodlawn, and
7		the people of the State of Illinois; and
8		    WHEREAS, It is appropriate for the State of Illinois to
9		honor the memory of Lance Corporal Price and recognize his
10		sacrifice by designating a portion of highway in his name;
11		therefore, be it
12		    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
13		HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE
14		SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that we designate the stretch of
15		Illinois Route 15 between Woodlawn and Mount Vernon as the
16		"Lance Corporal Jonathan Kyle Price Memorial Highway"; and be
17		it further
18		    RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation
19		is requested to erect and maintain appropriate signs
20		displaying the name "Lance Corporal Jonathan Kyle Price
21		Memorial Highway" along this designated route; and be it

2		    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
3		presented to the family of Lance Corporal Price and the
4		Secretary of the Illinois Department of Transportation.
