                                  JOINT RESOLUTION
 Submitting to the qualified voters of Missouri an amendment repealing Section 26 of Article
       V of the Constitution of Missouri, and adopting one new section in lieu thereof
       relating to the retirement of judges.
 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring therein:
         That at the next general election to be held in the state of Missouri, on Tuesday next
2 following the first Monday in November, 2026, or at a special election to be called by the
3 governor for that purpose, there is hereby submitted to the qualified voters of this state, for
4 adoption or rejection, the following amendment to Article V of the Constitution of the state of
5 Missouri:
         Section A. Section 26, Article V, Constitution of Missouri, is repealed and one new
2 section adopted in lieu thereof, to be known as Section 26, to read as follows:
         Section 26. 1. All judges other than municipal judges shall retire at the age of
2 [seventy] seventy-five years, except as provided in the schedule to this article, under a
3 retirement plan provided by law.
42. All judges may retire at an earlier age authorized by law and may participate in a
5 retirement plan provided by law.
63. Any retired judge, associate circuit judge or commissioner, with his or her
7 consent, may be assigned by the supreme court as a senior judge to any court in this state or as
 EXPLANATION — Matter enclosed in bold-faced brackets [thus] in the above bill is not enacted and is
 intended to be omitted from the law. Matter in bold-face type in the above bill is proposed language.

8 a special commissioner. When serving as a senior judge he or she shall have the same powers
9 as an active judge.
