hr54/introduced.txt*HR1554*Introduced VersionHOUSERESOLUTION No. ___Introduced by: Clere, Engleman____________________________________1A HOUSE RESOLUTION honoring the Floyd Central2 High School Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps rifle3 team.4 Whereas, The Floyd Central High School Navy Junior5 Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC) rifle team won the6 NJROTC Precision Rifle National Championship for the second7 consecutive year;8Whereas, The Floyd Central High School NJROTC rifle9 team specializes in marksmanship and competes in shooting10 competitions. Its members shoot with air rifles in three11 positions: prone, kneeling, and standing, allowing them to12 learn precision and accuracy while following strict safety13 protocols;14 Whereas, The Civilian Marksmanship Program, in20262422HR 1554/DI 140 202621 cooperation with the Missouri Marksmanship Education2 Center, hosted the NJROTC National Championships at its new3 state-of-the-art training facility in Columbia, Missouri, from4 February 12 to February 14;5Whereas, Fifty-one sporter teams and twenty precision teams6 gathered from across the country to compete for national7 honors. Representing 22 states — and also a United States8 Department of Defense school from Japan — the championship9 field showcased the increasing strength and reach of scholastic10 marksmanship;11Whereas, Competition was fierce from the first relay to the12 final shot, but the Hoosier athletes from Floyd Central High13 School rose to the occasion in commanding fashion;14Whereas, Cadets Megan Fondy, Logan Hall, Ysabelle15 Martinez, Lacy Schilmiller, and Emma Velten make up the rifle16 team that won the team competition with a score of 4,709,17 which was 104 points higher than the second-place team;18Whereas, Lacy Schilmiller finished first in the nation in the19 individual competition, Ysabelle Martinez finished second, and20 Logan Hall finished sixth with scores of 464.5, 464.1, and21 418.4, respectively;22Whereas, Master Gunnery Sergeant Lyn Akermon is the23 NJROTC instructor for Floyd Central High School and trains24 the members of the rifle team to be excellent marksmen;25Whereas, Competing on the rifle team requires cadets to be26 extremely focused, patient, and disciplined, and they must excel27 academically to participate; and28Whereas, Indiana shooting sports continue to demonstrate29 not only competitive excellence but also the depth of talent30 being developed within its scholastic programs, and the Floyd31 Central High School NJROTC rifle team is a prime example:32 Therefore,33Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the34General Assembly of the State of Indiana:20262422HR 1554/DI 140 202631SECTION 1.
