4 HONORING THARPTOWN BAPTIST CHURCH FOR ITS MANY YEARS
5 OF FAITHFUL SERVICE TO THE THARPTOWN COMMUNITY AND FRANKLIN
6 COUNTY, ALABAMA.

8WHEREAS, Tharptown Baptist Church traces its historic
9 roots to when the first congregation was organized at Tharp
10 Springs Baptist Church of Christ; and
11WHEREAS, through perseverance and faith, the church
12 was reorganized in 1886 and has continued to grow and
13 flourish, becoming a steadfast pillar of Christian witness
14 and community life in the Tharptown area; and
15WHEREAS, from its early days meeting in a humble log
16 cabin that served as both church and schoolhouse, to the
17 construction of subsequent buildings in 1886, 1939, 1952,
18 and the present sanctuary in 1988, Tharptown Baptist Church
19 has faithfully adapted and expanded to meet the spiritual
20 and practical needs of its congregation; and
21WHEREAS, throughout its history, the church has been
22 committed not only to worship, but also to education,
23 fellowship, and service, hosting Sunday School, Training
24 Union, Girls' Auxiliary, Royal Ambassadors, the Women's
25 Missionary Union, and numerous other ministries that have
26 nurtured generations of families in faith and discipleship;
27 and
28WHEREAS, the church has served as a gathering place

29 for the community, standing across from the Tharptown
30 Cemetery, and has been deeply woven into the fabric of local
31 life, providing spiritual leadership, guidance, and support
32 through times of hardship, including the years following the
33 Civil War and beyond; and
34WHEREAS, Tharptown Baptist Church has been blessed
35 with faithful pastors, deacons, teachers, and lay leaders
36 who have labored diligently for the advancement of the
37 Gospel and the strengthening of Christian fellowship; and
38WHEREAS, for well over a century, the church has
39 maintained its commitment to proclaiming the message of
40 Jesus Christ, supporting missions, fostering unity among
41 believers, and serving as a beacon of hope and faith in
42 Franklin County; now therefore,
43BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
44 HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That Tharptown Baptist Church is
45 hereby honored and commended for its many years of dedicated
46 service to the Tharptown Community and surrounding areas.
47BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That sincere appreciation is
48 extended to the pastors, members, and leaders, past and
49 present, whose devotion and sacrifice have sustained the
50 church's ministry and strengthened the spiritual life of the
51 community.
52BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be
53 presented as a lasting tribute of gratitude and recognition
54 for Tharptown Baptist Church's enduring legacy of faith,
55 service, and commitment to God and neighbor.
