1A HOUSE RESOLUTION honoring Kenneth Edwards
2    upon the occasion of his retirement.
3      Whereas, Kenneth Edwards grew up in Peru, Indiana, and
4    has been a lifelong Hoosier;
5Whereas, Kenneth Edwards is a fifth-generation railroader
6    with 36 years of experience in the rail industry;
7      Whereas, Kenneth Edwards is a member of the
8    Transportation Division of the International Association of
9    Sheet Metal, Air, Rail, and Transportation Workers (SMART),
10    which is one of North America's most dynamic and diverse
11    unions, representing 230,000 members;
12      Whereas, Kenneth Edwards has been a union officer for 35
13    years, holding positions in both the collective bargaining and

1    legislative sides of SMART, and began advocating for
2    SMART-TD members at the state level in 1992. He became the
3    state legislative director in 2009, a position he has held since;
4    and
5Whereas, Kenneth Edwards strongly believes that workers
6    deserve a fair share of the wealth they create, and he has
7    dedicated his career to advocating for workers in the
8    transportation industry: Therefore,
9Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the
10General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
11SECTION 1. That the Indiana House of Representatives
12    honors Kenneth Edwards upon his retirement from the
13    International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail, and
14    Transportation Workers.
15SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of
16    Representatives shall transmit copies of this resolution to State
17    Representative Mitch Gore for distribution.
