sr640/introduced.txt7011S.01ISENATE RESOLUTION NO. 640NOTICE OF PROPOSED RULE CHANGENotice is hereby given by the Senator from the 18thDistrict of the one day notice required by rule of intentto put a motion to adopt the following rule change:BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the One Hundred ThirdGeneral Assembly, Second Regular Session, that Senate Rules 52and 84 be amended to read as follows:"Rule 52. Senate bills reported to the senate from anycommittee shall lie on the table one day before beingperfected and ordered printed. Senate bills reportedperfected and house bills reported from committee shall lie[over] on the table one day before being third read. Senatebills with house amendments, except for any bills subject tothe provisions of Rule 6, shall lie on the table one daybefore being third read and finally passed by the Senate.Conference committee reports, except for a report on anybill subject to the provisions of Rule 6, shall lie on thetable one day before being acted upon by the Senate.Rule 84. The previous question shall be in this form:"Shall the main question be now put?". It shall only beadmitted on written demand of [ten] eighteen senators, andsustained by a vote of a majority of the senators elected,and in effect shall be put without debate, and bring thesenate to direct vote upon a motion to commit, if suchmotion shall have been made; and if this motion does notprevail, then upon amendments, and then upon the mainquestion. On demand for the previous question, a call ofthe senate shall be in order, but after a majority of thesenators elected have sustained such a motion, no call shallbe in order prior to the decision on the main question.".1
