Charley and Michelle Paulene Abeyta and Cindy Nava5 and Charlotte Little678910 AN ACT11 MAKING APPROPRIATIONS FOR COMMUNITY OUTREACH AND LAW12 ENFORCEMENT TRAINING TO SUPPORT THE TURQUOISE, AMBER, BRITTANY13 AND SILVER ALERTS AND FOR A STATEWIDE AWARENESS AND PUBLIC14 SERVICE CAMPAIGN TO BUILD AWARENESS AND UNDERSTANDING, IMPROVE15 RESPONSE EFFICACY AND STRENGTHEN TRUST IN THE TURQUOISE ALERT16 SYSTEM.[bracketed material] = delete17underscored material = new18 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:19 SECTION 1. APPROPRIATIONS.--20 A. The following amounts are appropriated from the21 general fund to the department of public safety for expenditure22 in fiscal year 2027 for the following purposes:23 (1) one million dollars ($1,000,000) to24 modernize and enhance the statewide operations and systems for25 turquoise alerts, AMBER alerts, Brittany alerts and silver.232622.31 alerts, as well as endangered persons and missing persons2 advisories; and3 (2) three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000)4 for two full-time employees, one for the missing persons5 information clearinghouse to serve as a tribal liaison analyst6 and point of contact for tribal, state and local law7 enforcement and the second employee for the information8 technology division to work as a developer on the development9 of a dedicated endangered persons and missing persons portal.10 B. Two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($250,000) is11 appropriated from the general fund to the Indian affairs12 department for expenditure in fiscal year 2027 for a statewide13 outreach and public service campaign to build community14 awareness and understanding, improve response efficacy and15 strengthen trust in the turquoise alert system.16 C.
