2A resolution designating February 5, 2026, as St.
3Johns County Day in Florida, in honor of the county’s
4contributions, historic significance, and continued
5importance to this state.

7WHEREAS, St. Johns County was established in 1821 and is
8recognized as one of the first counties in Florida, and
9WHEREAS, the early modernization of Florida began in St.
10Johns County through the vision of Henry Flagler, whose
11development of the railroad and construction of the Hotel Ponce
12de Leon, now the esteemed Flagler College, provided the
13foundation for the region’s growth, and
14WHEREAS, St. Johns County is home to a rich historical and
15cultural heritage, including the nation’s oldest city, numerous
16historic landmarks, 43 miles of pristine coastline, world-class
17recreational opportunities, and a thriving and diverse business
18community, and
19WHEREAS, St. Johns County stands as a pillar of Florida,
20continually contributing to the state’s prosperity through
21vibrant communities, cultural enrichment, economic development,
22and a high quality of life, and
23WHEREAS, St. Johns County Day serves as a valuable
24opportunity to celebrate the county’s profound historical
25contributions, natural beauty, ambition, and continued impact on
26the success and identity of this state, NOW, THEREFORE,

28Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

30That the Florida Senate hereby designates February 5, 2026,
31as St. Johns County Day in Florida, in honor of the county’s
32contributions, historic significance, and continued importance
33to this state.
