Charley678910 A JOINT RESOLUTION11 PROPOSING TO AMEND ARTICLE 4, SECTION 10 OF THE CONSTITUTION OF12 NEW MEXICO TO ALLOW LEGISLATIVE COMPENSATION THAT IS LIMITED TO13 THE MEDIAN HOUSEHOLD INCOME FOR NEW MEXICO, TO REQUIRE14 LEGISLATIVE COMPENSATION TO BE REDUCED IF THE MEDIAN HOUSEHOLD15 INCOME FOR NEW MEXICO FALLS, TO ALLOW LEGISLATIVE COMPENSATION16 TO BE INCREASED ONLY IF THE MEDIAN HOUSEHOLD INCOME FOR NEW[bracketed material] = delete17 MEXICO RISES AND TO PROVIDE FOR DELAYED IMPLEMENTATION.underscored material = new1819 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:20 SECTION 1. It is proposed to amend Article 4, Section 1021 of the constitution of New Mexico to read:22 "A. Each member of the legislature [shall] is23 entitled to receive:24 [A.] (1) per diem at the internal revenue25 service per diem rate for the city of Santa Fe for each day's.232790.21 attendance during each session of the legislature and the2 internal revenue service standard mileage rate for each mile3 traveled in going to and returning from the seat of government4 by the usual traveled route, once each session as defined by5 Article 4, Section 5 of this constitution;6 [B.] (2) per diem expense and mileage at the7 same rates as provided in [Subsection A] Paragraph (1) of this8 [section] subsection for service at meetings required by9 legislative committees established by the legislature to meet10 in the interim between sessions; and11 [C. no other] (3) compensation [perquisite or12 allowance] as provided by law for legislative service in an13 amount equal to the annual median household income for New14 Mexico as initially determined and adjusted thereafter by the15 rise or fall of the median household income for New Mexico.16 B. The provisions of Paragraph (3) of Subsection A[bracketed material] = delete17 of this section are effective beginning with members seated andunderscored material = new18 sworn in for the fifty-ninth legislature."19 SECTION 2.
