                                11   PROPOSING TO AMEND ARTICLE 4, SECTION 10 OF THE CONSTITUTION OF
                                12   NEW MEXICO TO ALLOW LEGISLATIVE COMPENSATION THAT IS LIMITED TO
                                13   THE MEDIAN HOUSEHOLD INCOME FOR NEW MEXICO, TO REQUIRE
                                14   LEGISLATIVE COMPENSATION TO BE REDUCED IF THE MEDIAN HOUSEHOLD
                                15   INCOME FOR NEW MEXICO FALLS, TO ALLOW LEGISLATIVE COMPENSATION

                                19   BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
                                20        SECTION 1.      It is proposed to amend Article 4, Section 10
                                21   of the constitution of New Mexico to read:
                                22  "A.    Each member of the legislature [shall] is
                                23   entitled to receive:
                                24  [A.] (1)    per diem at the internal revenue
                                25   service per diem rate for the city of Santa Fe for each day's

                                1    attendance during each session of the legislature and the
                                2    internal revenue service standard mileage rate for each mile
                                3    traveled in going to and returning from the seat of government
                                4    by the usual traveled route, once each session as defined by
                                5    Article 4, Section 5 of this constitution;
                                6  [B.] (2)   per diem expense and mileage at the
                                7    same rates as provided in [Subsection A] Paragraph (1) of this
                                8    [section] subsection for service at meetings required by
                                9    legislative committees established by the legislature to meet
                                10   in the interim between sessions; and
                                11  [C.   no other] (3)   compensation [perquisite or
                                12   allowance] as provided by law for legislative service in an
                                13   amount equal to the annual median household income for New
                                14   Mexico as initially determined and adjusted thereafter by the
                                15   rise or fall of the median household income for New Mexico.
                                16  B.   The provisions of Paragraph (3) of Subsection A

                                19        SECTION 2.    The amendment proposed by this resolution
                                20   shall be submitted to the people for their approval or
                                21   rejection at the 2028 general election.
