                                                   AN ACT
 To amend chapter 208, RSMo, by adding thereto one new section relating to a MO HealthNet
           waiver for nutrition services.
 Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Missouri, as follows:
1Section A. Chapter 208, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto
2  one new section, to be known as section 208.270, to read as
3  follows:
1208.270.  1. This section shall be known and may be
2  cited as the "Food is Medicine Act".  The department of
3  social services shall apply to the Centers for Medicare and
4  Medicaid Services of the federal Department of Health and
5  Human Services for a Section 1115 demonstration waiver to
6  implement the "Food is Medicine" program for the purpose of
7  providing nutrition supports through the MO HealthNet
8  program.  The food is medicine program shall be designed to
9  improve health outcomes for MO HealthNet participants with
10  nutrition-related chronic diseases through nutrition
11  services and to reduce the need for medical care for those
12  participants.
132.     Nutrition services covered under this program may
14  include, but shall not be limited to, the following:
15(1)      Case management;
16(2)      Nutrition counseling;
17(3)      Meals or pantry stocking;

18(4)    Nutrition prescriptions; and
19(5)    Grocery provisions.
203.    Whenever feasible, the MO HealthNet division shall
21 prioritize the inclusion of community-based organizations
22 and local growers to support the purchase of locally grown
23 food in nutrition prescriptions.
