Section 193.6245, Florida Statutes, is created16to read:17193.6245 Assessment of property; changes or improvements18for resistance to wind damage.—19(1) As used in this section, the term “changes or20improvements made to improve the property’s resistance to wind21damage” includes, but is not limited to, all of the following:22(a) Improving the strength of the roof deck attachment.23(b) Creating a secondary water barrier to prevent water24intrusion.25(c) Installing wind-resistant shingles.26(d) Installing gable-end bracing.27(e) Reinforcing roof-to-wall connections.28(f) Installing storm shutters.29(g) Installing opening protections.30(2) In determining the assessed value of real property used31for residential purposes, any increase in just value of a32property which is attributable to changes or improvements made33to improve the property’s resistance to wind damage may not be34considered.35(3) This section applies to changes or improvements made to36improve the property’s resistance to wind damage made on or37after January 1, 2027.38Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2026.
