R. 5614 IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES September 26, 2025 Mr. Vindman (for himself, Mr. Thompson of Pennsylvania , Mr. Lawler , Ms. McDonald Rivet , Mr. Subramanyam , Mr. Fitzpatrick , and Mr. Mannion ) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Agriculture A BILLTo direct the Secretary of Agriculture to carry out an awareness campaign with respect to spotted lanternflies.1.Short titleThis Act may be cited as the If You See It, Squish It Act of 2025 .2.Spotted lanternfly awareness campaign(a)In generalThe Secretary of Agriculture (in this section referred to as the Secretary ) shall carry out a national campaign to increase the awareness and knowledge of the public with respect to spotted lanternflies.(b)Required activitiesIn carrying out the national campaign under this section, the Secretary shall—(1)place public service announcements on television, radio, and billboards in areas of high incidence of spotted lanternflies that—(A)inform individuals of the fact that spotted lanternflies are an invasive pest that threaten local agriculture; and(B)encourage individuals to kill any spotted lanternflies that such individuals encounter; and(2)use such other awareness tools as the Secretary determines appropriate to provide the information described in paragraph (1).

If You See It, Squish It Act of 2025
This bill directs the Department of Agriculture to carry out a national campaign to increase public awareness and knowledge of the spotted lanternfly. This invasive plant hopper feeds on a wide range of plants, including grapevines, hops, stone fruit trees, and hardwood trees.
